Catalyst Archive

Since the first Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition (SRWC) meeting in December 1994, meeting minutes have been sent to interested individuals.  These minutes have progressed to what is now the monthly newsletter of the SRWC, The Catalyst. For almost 15 years, the Catalyst has been used to inform readers of all ages of the latest events, research, projects, partnerships, and other news related to the SRWC.  With an initial reach of a couple dozen readers, the circulation of The Catalyst has now grown to over 1100.  Readers of The Catalyst span over a dozen countries and five continents.  This newsletter is read by environmental professionals, educators, students, interested citizens, local, state, and federal government agencies, watershed groups, businesses and industry, and others.

Regular features of the newsletter include H.O.P.E. (Highlighting Others Partnership Efforts), the Kids Catalyst page (featuring fun and educational science-themed activities for kids), Photo of the Month, annual Year in Review (a summary of the SRWC’s education/outreach activities, conferences/meetings attended, special recognition, and watershed projects), and more.

We love receiving feedback and other mail from our readers, and even publish readers submissions from time to time.

Since 2003, The Catalyst has been written primarily by Melissa Busler, a graduate of Grove City College and participant of the SRWC.
